Putting belongings safely away in storage provides you with additional free room and, maybe, extra peace of mind. A storage facility keeps belongings locked away from prying eyes and harm. Your circumstances, however, may make renting a storage container a better plan. Perhaps you are soon moving. Things could go in the pod for four months, and then the pod could get loaded on a flatbed moving truck. Logistically, everything may seem perfect. However, some concerns might exist about protecting and preserving the contents. Taking a few precautionary measures could reduce worries. More importantly, the measure might cut down on any problems.
Pick the Right Section Outside
If you have enough land, choose a safe spot on the property. Is there an area where water pools when rain falls heavy? That's probably not the best location to place the container. Situating the pod where it is away from prying eyes helps, too. Keep the pod away from trees or bushes takes away any cover from someone who shouldn't be on the property. Think carefully about where the container should go, and think about any related circumstances. Putting the pod on the driveway could work, but do you want it close to the street? If other drivers like to use the driveway for K-turns, maybe the container should be further away.
Adding Security Measures
Worries may understandably exist about break-ins. The durable construction of metal pods would make breaching the interior difficult. Burglars must move quickly and quietly, and cutting through a metal door or container walls affords neither option. Adding an industrial-grade padlock to the pod further makes things difficult for criminals. Spare no expense on the lock, and you increase security levels. You can hide battery-powered magnet-connected alarms to the bottom of the pod, too. These alarms go off when a door opens, pulling apart a wire with a magnet connected to an alarm. You can hook it up to the interior bottom by the door. Disarming the alarm involves slowly opening the door a few inches and turning it off. Someone who doesn't know the alarm is there could roll the door up and trip the alarm.
Concerns About the Elements
Heavy rain could bear down on your nerves. Renting a rainproof pod could put calm them, but covering the pod's top with a secured tarp might calm them further. The tarp could protect against sap or other concerning troubles. And maybe it'll put your worries to rest.
